Navila Liveaboard
The answers guests ask for, in the order they ask
Updated 3 November 2026
Labuan Bajo private phinisi questions, answered for Navila in seven groups: format, cabins, price, route, getting there, booking, and the sea. Prices are for 2026 departures, and any answer that depends on the day or the weather says so.
Questions from guests before their first message
Most guests want to know the same few things before they write: what the whole boat costs, which cabin has what, whether the boat sails when the weather turns, and how to pay from abroad. Each answer stands on its own, so you can open any group and read only what you need. Where a subject has its own page, the answer here is the short version.
Seven groups of answers
Seven groups cover a booking from the first question to the sea: choosing a format, the six cabins, price and extras, the route and the days aboard, getting to Labuan Bajo, booking and paying, and the season, children and food. Open the group that matches your question.
Booking, paying and changing plans
Which days does Navila depart, and is my date available?
Open-trip dates come from Navila's live calendar. Seats change daily, so we check the next sailing on WhatsApp per 3 November 2026 and confirm a date before you pay. A private charter starts whichever day the boat is free.
How do we reserve, and what is the deposit?
Start with a WhatsApp message giving your dates and party size. Paying 50 percent secures the date. The remainder falls 30 days ahead of sailing, or on departure day in cash or at the card machine.
Which payment methods work from another country, and what do they cost?
Three payment routes carry a fee: 3 percent by card link, 7.2 percent by PayPal, 3 percent at the machine in town. We also take Wise, Revolut, QRIS and a rupiah bank transfer. Every payment is made against an invoice in your WhatsApp thread.
Can guests from China pay with Alipay, WeChat Pay or UnionPay?
Alipay works, with the fee paid by the guest. WeChat Pay works too, through our payment partner. UnionPay is not promised, so please ask us before counting on it.
What are the deposit, the balance deadline and the cancellation rules?
You pay 50 percent to reserve, then the rest 30 days before departure. If you cancel with 60 or more days to go, 50 percent comes back. At 30 to 59 days the return is 25 percent, and inside 30 days it is nil. A date moved with 30 days or more to go costs nothing, and one moved at 14 to 29 days costs IDR 500,000.
What do we receive if Navila is swapped for another boat or cancelled?
If Navila cannot sail on the day you booked, you can take a boat of equal or higher class that day at the same price, or a full refund of your payment, normally within 2 × 24 hours once the refund conditions are met. We tell you what the replacement is, and then you choose.
Can I verify the company behind these bookings, and where are guest reviews?
The booking company is PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, based in Labuan Bajo and registered under NIB 1805260128363. The reviews page shows quotes from Komodo Explorer's Google and Tripadvisor guest profiles. Before paying, ask for one payment confirmation in writing: an invoice that names the company and one bank account.
Can we reserve 2027 dates already?
Yes. The 2027 rates are published and valid from 1 January to 31 December 2027; a 3D2N for one to four guests costs IDR 85,000,000 (≈ USD 5,215) in 2027. Open-trip dates come from Navila's live calendar. The 2027 all-in cabin fares are confirmed in writing before you pay.
Can I pay the balance on the departure day?
Yes. The standard terms stay the same: a 50% deposit confirms the date and the balance is due 30 days before departure, but you may also pay the balance in Labuan Bajo on the departure day, in cash or by card on the EDC machine. Card payment link 3%, PayPal 7.2%, EDC 3%; your issuing bank may add its own charges.
Choosing Navila and a format
How does chartering all of Navila differ from taking one cabin on an open trip?
A private charter gives your party the whole boat, priced by band, with only Navila's crew aboard. An open trip sells cabin seats per person on set dates, shares the boat with other guests, and includes the guide and documentation that a charter leaves out. A 3D2N charter starts at IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479); a seat starts at IDR 7,100,000 (≈ USD 436).
Can our party book the whole boat, and who else is aboard?
Yes. The band price is for the whole boat, so all six cabins are yours and no one else sleeps aboard apart from Navila's crew of six, led by a cruise director. On an open trip, by contrast, you share the boat with other guests, cabin by cabin.
How many guests are on board, and is it a small, quiet boat?
Navila has 6 cabins and sleeps 12 guests on standard beds, up to 14 with the extra-guest fee. A crew of 6 looks after them, about one crew member for every two guests. A party of more than 14 overnight needs a second boat.
How many guests can sleep on Navila, and what is the extra-guest fee?
Twelve guests sleep on standard beds. Up to 14 can sail when guests 13 and 14 pay the extra-guest fee: IDR 4,000,000 (≈ USD 245) each on a 3D2N, IDR 3,000,000 (≈ USD 184) on a 2D1N and IDR 5,000,000 (≈ USD 307) on a 4D3N. An extra guest sleeps in a Master cabin. Trips of six days or more carry a maximum of 12.
Is a private phinisi in Komodo safe?
Navila carries life jackets, life buoys and fire extinguishers, a Garmin 585 GPS and a VHF radio, and a tender for sixteen, with a crew of six led by a cruise director. In bad weather the captain and the harbour authority decide whether and where she sails. Should Navila be unable to sail on your date, a boat of equal or higher class takes her place, or you are refunded in full.
Is there a fare for one traveller alone, and who would share my cabin?
Cabins are sold per person, two sharing. A 3D2N seat costs IDR 7,100,000 (≈ USD 436) in a Private cabin and IDR 8,100,000 (≈ USD 497) in a Master cabin, all-in for 2026. A solo guest's price, and who would share the cabin, are confirmed in writing before you pay. Nothing is arranged without your agreement.
Is Navila only for snorkelling, with no dive equipment, and is the snorkelling gear included?
Navila is a snorkelling boat. Snorkelling sets, life jackets and a paddleboard are aboard and included. Navila carries no dive equipment, so we do not offer diving. Dive insurance, for those who dive elsewhere, is excluded from every fare, as is travel insurance.
Getting to Labuan Bajo and your flight
What time and where is the pickup, and when do I get the driver's contact?
Open-trip guests are collected from Komodo Airport or a Labuan Bajo hotel from 09:00 to 09:30, and the boat casts off from 10:00 to 11:00. A private charter fixes the time by your flights. The driver's contact reaches you on WhatsApp before the day.
When does the voyage finish, and how late can my flight home be?
On the last morning of a 3D2N the boat docks in Labuan Bajo near 12:00, and the open trip closes between 12:00 and 13:00. The drive to the airport or hotel is included. Book a flight after 15:00 on the last day.
How do I get from Bali or Lombok to Labuan Bajo in time to board?
Fly in the day before. Komodo International Airport, code LBJ, has short flights from Bali, Jakarta, Surabaya and Lombok, and a night in town shields the first morning from any delay. We give no flight numbers, because schedules change; check with the airline nearer the date.
Do you run one-way trips between Lombok and Labuan Bajo?
A one-way run between Lombok and Labuan Bajo is not a published Navila route: every route begins and ends in Labuan Bajo. If you need one, send your dates on WhatsApp; the answer comes back in writing.
Where does a Lombok cruise start and end, and when do we arrive?
A Lombok cruise is not a published Navila route. Ours start and end at Labuan Bajo harbour: open-trip guests meet between 09:00 and 09:30 and sail between 10:00 and 11:00, and a 3D2N returns around 12:00 on the last day.
Is the transfer between the airport, the hotel and the harbour included?
Yes, within Labuan Bajo. Your fare covers the car between hotel or airport and harbour on arrival day, and again at the end.
Do we need a visa for Indonesia?
That depends on your nationality, and the rules change. Check the Indonesian immigration service's pages in the week you fly, and before you book the flight.
Price, inclusions and extra costs
What does a private boat for Komodo cost, and what sits beside the quote?
On Navila the whole boat is priced by party band. For 3D2N in 2026, a party of one to four pays IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479), five to eight pay IDR 77,000,000 (≈ USD 4,724), and nine to twelve pay IDR 82,000,000 (≈ USD 5,031). The park package, drinks, tips, the guide and documentation on a charter, and the card fee are separate lines.
What does the whole of Navila cost for my party?
A full day charter, which carries a fifteenth guest, costs IDR 48,500,000 (≈ USD 2,975). For 3D2N the bands are IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479), IDR 77,000,000 (≈ USD 4,724) and IDR 82,000,000 (≈ USD 5,031). The charter page lists 2D1N and 4D3N in the same three bands. Prices are for 2026 departures.
What is the all-in price (fuel, tax, park fee, card fee)?
The boat price is one rounded all-in figure for the whole boat. Open-trip seats are quoted all-in too, with fuel already inside the figure. Beside it sit the park package, drinks, tips, the guide and documentation on a charter, and the card fee of 3 percent for a payment link.
What exactly is included and excluded?
Included: the harbour transfer, the six cabins, a crew of six led by a cruise director, three meals a day, snacks and fruit, coffee, tea and water, towels, life jackets, snorkelling gear and the deck facilities. Flights, hotels, the park package, the drone permit, travel insurance, alcohol and tips are excluded. The guide and documentation stay off a charter invoice; on an open-trip seat both are already counted.
Can we use every cabin on a private charter?
Yes. All six cabins belong to your party, with no cabin surcharge on top of the band price. Guests 13 and 14 pay the extra-guest fee and sleep in a Master cabin, since each Master cabin takes one more person.
Which items are not part of a private charter, such as a guide, park fees and a drone?
Neither the guide nor photo and video documentation is part of a charter; either can be added, and we quote each as its own line. The park package is paid on top. A drone permit is not included in any price; we arrange it for you. Flights, hotels, travel insurance, alcohol and tips are also excluded.
What does an open-trip cabin cost per person, all-in?
For a 3D2N open trip in 2026, two sharing, a Master cabin costs IDR 8,100,000 (≈ USD 497) per person and a Private cabin IDR 7,100,000 (≈ USD 436), with fuel inside. The 2027 open-trip fare is confirmed in writing before you pay.
What is each person's share when only two of us hire the whole boat?
On 3D2N the whole boat costs IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479), so each of two guests pays IDR 36,500,000 (≈ USD 2,239). The same band covers four, which brings each share down to IDR 18,250,000 (≈ USD 1,120). For two people an open-trip seat is cheaper, at IDR 8,100,000 (≈ USD 497) each, but you then share the boat.
How much are the Komodo National Park fees with KEXI?
KEXI quotes the park as one package per guest: 3D2N: IDR 650,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest; 4D3N: IDR 750,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest. It bundles the government entrance ticket (IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, PP 36/2024) with the ranger fee and local levies, and is paid on top of the boat price unless your quote says it is included.
Route, stops and the days aboard
How many days should we plan for Komodo?
Three days is the middle choice, and the one most guests make. The full day covers Padar, Pink Beach and Rinca. A 2D1N adds a night and the evening at Kalong. The 3D2N adds Komodo Island and a last snorkel at Kanawa, and the 4D3N adds Gili Lawa, Siaba and Rangko Cave.
Does the voyage return to Labuan Bajo, or can it run one-way to or from Lombok?
Every published route begins and ends at Labuan Bajo harbour and stays within Komodo National Park. No Lombok leg is published for Navila. You are welcome to ask about a one-way trip, and we answer that request separately, in writing.
Do you visit Komodo Island, Padar, Pink Beach and Manta Point, or only Rinca?
It depends on the route. The 3D2N calls at Komodo Island. The full day, the 2D1N and the 4D3N call at Rinca instead. Padar, Pink Beach and Manta Point appear on the 2D1N, 3D2N and 4D3N, while the full day takes Padar and Pink Beach. Rinca and Komodo are different islands.
Will we see Komodo dragons?
The dragons are wild. On the Komodo or Rinca walk a ranger leads you, and sightings are common, but nobody can guarantee one. There are no dragons on Padar, at Pink Beach or at the snorkel stops.
Can one cruise show me manta rays and dragons, and what of whale sharks, which Navila does not visit?
One voyage can offer dragons on the Komodo or Rinca walk and mantas at Manta Point. Mantas are common there and never promised. Navila's routes do not include a whale shark stop, so we do not claim one.
Where does the boat spend the night?
At anchor. The captain chooses the anchorage with the weather, and the boat stays there until daylight. You sleep in your cabin, and the evening at Kalong is watched from the deck.
What time is sunrise at Padar and sunset at Kalong?
In November the sun rises over Padar at 05:31 and sets at Kalong at 18:01; in June the times are 06:14 and 17:50. The flying foxes appear about fifteen minutes after sunset. The Padar and Kalong pages give all twelve months.
What changes on the day if the weather alters our route?
The captain decides, and the order of stops changes with the sea, the tide and any instruction from the park or the harbour. A stop can be swapped for another or dropped. We tell you if a change affects what you booked, and if the voyage cannot go ahead, the replacement or refund terms apply.
Season, sea, health and children
What is the best time of year for a private Komodo cruise?
Dry months run from April to November. The sea is quietest and the water clearest in April, May, June, October and November. July and August are windier and busier. Mantas are seen most between December and February and again between July and September. The months page gives each month in turn.
Is it safe after weather warnings or earthquakes, and what happens if sailing is closed?
After a weather warning or an earthquake alert, the captain and the harbour authority decide whether the boat sails, and their decision stands. We pass it on to you at once. If the voyage cannot go ahead, the replacement-or-refund terms apply, and we set out your choice in writing.
Is Komodo Island closed in 2026?
The park authority can close a stop or a trail for a period, and a closure is announced by the authority, not by us. Before you pay, we check the notices for your dates and tell you in writing if a stop is closed. Where Komodo Island is not on your route, Rinca takes its place.
Does the fare cover the national park charge, and how much cash do I carry?
The government entrance ticket travels inside the park package, together with ranger and local charges, and that package is settled apart from Navila's price unless your written quote includes it. It is quoted per guest by trip type and by nationality. Ask for that line with your quote. Bring cash only for tips, drinks ashore and small purchases.
What are the child prices, ages and bed setups?
Infants and toddlers aged 0 to 2 pay nothing while with a parent or guardian. From age 3 the full fare applies. Each cabin has a single double bed, so give us the children's ages with your request and we will write back with the sleeping plan.
Which meals are served, and how do you confirm vegetarian, halal and allergy needs?
Three meals a day, with snacks, fruit, coffee, tea and water in between. Before departure, tell us if you need vegetarian or halal food, or have an allergy, and our written reply says what the kitchen can do. We do not promise any particular dish.
Is alcohol excluded from the price, and can guests carry their own bottles aboard?
Alcohol is excluded from the fare. Bringing your own is agreed with us in writing before sailing. A bar on board is not promised.
Six cabins, beds and bathrooms
What is the difference between a Master cabin and a Private cabin, and is the bathroom shared?
Cabins 1 and 2 are Master cabins with an ocean view and a wide window, and each can take one extra guest. Cabins 3 to 6 are Private cabins with an ocean view. Every cabin has a double bed, its own bathroom with a hot shower, air conditioning and a safety box. No bathroom is shared. A seat costs IDR 8,100,000 (≈ USD 497) in a Master cabin and IDR 7,100,000 (≈ USD 436) in a Private one.
Is there a bathroom on deck as well as the one in each cabin?
Yes. All six cabins have their own bathroom with a hot shower. There is also a public bathroom beside the dining area for guests on deck, so nobody has to go back to their cabin to use one.
Are the beds double or twin, and can separate beds be made up?
Every cabin has one double bed, queen-size in the Master cabins. Separate beds are not offered. Friends or colleagues who each want their own bed should ask before booking, and our written reply will say what can be done.
Is there hot water, air conditioning and a real window in my cabin?
Every cabin has a hot shower and air conditioning. The Master cabins have a wide window onto the sea; the Private cabins have an ocean view.
Does Navila have internet at sea, and is there a jacuzzi on board?
Starlink internet is fitted, and its strength rises and falls with the boat's position, so do not plan around a video call. There is a jacuzzi on deck, with seating around it.
Is there somewhere safe in the cabin for passports and valuables?
Yes. Every cabin has its own safety box, so passports, cash and cameras stay in the cabin you sleep in.
What can we do on deck besides sit?
Sitting is allowed, of course, in the relax areas at the bow, middle and stern. Beyond that there is the jacuzzi, and the paddleboard for the hours at anchor. Indoors you have karaoke, a home theatre with a smart TV, and the dining room for the evening.
