Whole boat or one cabin: an honest comparison

Updated 3 November 2026

Whole boat or one cabin on Navila Liveaboard comes down to your party. Two guests pay IDR 36,500,000 (≈ USD 2,239) each for the whole boat, or IDR 8,100,000 (≈ USD 497) each for a Master cabin seat on the open trip. A guide is included on the open trip, but not on a charter.

Ask for both prices

Cabin seat set beside the whole vessel

On a charter you have the entire boat: six cabins, a crew of six led by a cruise director, and the whole deck. You pay one sum, set by the size of your party, and you choose the date.

The open trip sells cabins individually, at a fare per person, two to a cabin. It sails for three days and two nights on set dates from Navila's live calendar, with other guests on board.

Side by side, the whole boat against one cabin seat:

  • Who is aboard: on the whole boat, your party and Navila's crew only; on a cabin seat, other guests share the boat.
  • Price for two guests: IDR 36,500,000 (≈ USD 2,239) each for the whole boat; IDR 8,100,000 (≈ USD 497) each for a Master cabin seat.
  • Guide and documentation: quoted on request with the whole boat; included with a cabin seat.
  • Choice of date: any free date with the whole boat; a set sailing from the live calendar with a cabin seat.
  • Pickup: timed around your flights with the whole boat; between 09:00 and 09:30 at the airport or hotel with a cabin seat.
  • Park package: extra in both cases, quoted beside the fare.

The rest is identical. Same boat, same crew, same meals, same cabins.

What each person owes at two, four, eight or twelve heads

For three days and two nights the whole boat is one sum, so what each person pays depends on how many share it. Two guests pay IDR 36,500,000 (≈ USD 2,239) each. Four pay IDR 18,250,000 (≈ USD 1,120) each, since the one-to-four band covers them. With eight guests each share is IDR 9,620,000 (≈ USD 590); with twelve, IDR 6,830,000 (≈ USD 419).

An open-trip seat is IDR 8,100,000 (≈ USD 497) in a Master cabin and IDR 7,100,000 (≈ USD 436) in a Private cabin, per person, all-in for 2026. For two guests the seat is clearly cheaper, and even for eight a Private seat still comes in below the whole-boat share.

Near a full boat the figures cross. At twelve guests the whole-boat share drops below a Private seat. Even then the comparison is not quite like for like, because the seat includes the guide and the documentation and the charter does not. Add those, quoted on request, and the gap shrinks.

Neither figure includes the park package, and we only ever compare 2026 with 2026.

Who sets the pace and picks the anchorage

A charter runs to your party's wishes. You pick the date, the pickup is timed around your flights, and you can ask the cruise director for a slower day or a fuller one. The sequence of stops is still the captain's.

An open trip runs to the calendar. You meet at Komodo Airport or a hotel between 09:00 and 09:30, board between 10:00 and 11:00, and are back in harbour between 12:00 and 13:00 on the final day. The pace is shared with the group.

On both, the captain and the weather decide the sequence of stops and the anchorage, and the boat stays at anchor overnight. To promise anything else would be to promise what we cannot keep.

If control over the hours matters more to you than the price, choose the charter.

The case for taking just one cabin

A single cabin makes sense for two people who want Navila for less and have no need of the whole boat. It also suits anyone travelling alone, since seats are sold per person.

Seat fares are listed below: IDR 8,100,000 (≈ USD 497) in a Master cabin and IDR 7,100,000 (≈ USD 436) in a Private one. Both are all-in for 2026, and every seat comes with a guide and photographs and film of the trip. The park package is extra.

A few limits apply. Seats are confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay, as they change daily. Each cabin has one double bed. A solo traveller's terms are confirmed in writing before payment.

Unchanged by your choice: crew, meals, bathrooms

Whichever way you book, it is the same boat. Same crew of six, led by the same cruise director. Meals are the same three a day, with the same drinks and snacks in between.

Bathrooms do not change either. Every cabin keeps its own, with a hot shower, so no one shares with another cabin, and air conditioning and a safety box are fitted throughout. The jacuzzi, the relax areas, the dining room, karaoke and the home theatre are there for everyone.

The real differences are the ones listed above: who else is on board, who picks the date, what the guide costs and what you pay. The Labuan Bajo transfer is included on both.

If you are still deciding, write with your dates and party size; we will reply with both prices in one line.

FAQ

Can I join an open trip instead of chartering the whole boat?

Yes. Navila runs a three-day open trip, on set dates from its live calendar, that sells cabins by the seat, per person, two sharing. A Master seat costs IDR 8,100,000 (≈ USD 497) and a Private seat IDR 7,100,000 (≈ USD 436), all-in for 2026. Because seats change daily, we confirm yours on WhatsApp before you pay.

If just two of us take the whole boat, what does each pay?

For three days and two nights, IDR 36,500,000 (≈ USD 2,239) each: half the one-to-four band price. That band also covers four guests, so a party of four pays IDR 18,250,000 (≈ USD 1,120) each. The park package and the other separate costs come on top.

On the open trip, would a stranger share my cabin?

Each cabin takes two guests, so a couple simply shares with each other. For a solo traveller, the arrangement and any difference in price are confirmed in writing before payment, and we do not promise to pair you with another guest. Every cabin has one double bed, so tell us if separate beds matter.

Do the guide and the photographs come with a charter?

No. A private-charter price leaves out the guide and the photographs and film, though either can be added on request with its own quote. On the open trip both are included in the seat fare. The park package is separate whichever you choose.
